Strengthening regional cooperation, promoting interconnection and achieving win-win development —- Yinchuan City and Ordos Municipal Government held a special symposium

On the afternoon of May 24, 2018, Yinchuan Mayor Yang Yujing, Vice Mayor Wang Yong and Director of the Bureau of Housing and Construction Liu Peng visited Hanas Hangjin Banner-Yinchuan Natural Gas Pipeline Linkage Line Control Center to fully understand the construction situation and significance of Hanas Hangjin Banner -Yinchuan Natural Gas Pipeline. They affirmed Hanas’ enterprise responsibility for serving people’s livelihood and the construction concept of striving for excellence. Subsequently, Mayor Yang Yujing and his entourage, accompanied by Ren Fenglan, Vice President of Hanas Group, drove to Ordos to specially coordinate and deal with the approval of Hangjin Banner-Yinchuan Natural Gas Pipeline.

On the morning of May 25, Mayor Yang Yujing and Ordos Mayor Steinberg held a special discussion on the approval of the Inner Mongolia section of Hangjin Banner-Yinchuan Natural Gas Pipeline Project.

Mayor Yang Yujing said that Yinchuan is an important central city in the northwest region and an important node city of the “Belt and Road”. In recent years, it has thoroughly implemented the new development concept, actively adapted to the new normal and high quality development requirements of the economic development, adhered to the urban development idea of “green, high-end, harmonious and livable”, coordinately promoted urban planning, construction, management and operation, and strived to create a city brand of “Silk Road Pearl • Glamour Yinchuan”, with the city’s livability increasingly evident. As a sister city adjacent to Yinchuan, Ordos City is also a core city in the neighboring region of Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi and Gansu and an important clean energy export base of the country. The Hangjin Banner-Yinchuan Natural Gas Pipeline Project is a major livelihood project benefiting the people of Ningxia and Inner Mongolia and a key project for Yinchuan to fully implement the strategy of ecological livability and promote the construction of clean energy in the city. It is of great significance to drive the interconnection and intercommunication of the two cities and expected that Ordos will continue to support and intensify the cooperation and development of the two cities.

Mayor Steinberg said that Ordos and Yinchuan are friendly neighbors and have maintained good exchanges and cooperation, Hangjin Banner-Yinchuan Natural Gas Pipeline Project will make up for the weakness of natural gas transmission between Inner Mongolia and Ningxia to meet the gas demand of herdsmen in villages and towns along the line and benefit the people of Inner Mongolia and Ningxia. Ordos will continue to support the construction of the project. It is expected that the two municipalities will strengthen communication, accelerate the pace of development and promote closer cooperation.

Jin Wu, member of the Standing Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of the Ordos, Wang Yong, deputy mayor of Yinchuan, Ni Jiayu, deputy mayor of Ordos, Zhang Zhongzhi, secretary-general, Liu Peng, Director of Yinchuan City Housing Bureau, Ren Fenglan, Vice President of Hanas Group, Luo Zhanjun, General Manager of Hanas Inner Mongolia Pipeline Company, and so on, participated in the discussion.

The Hangjin Banner-Yinchuan Natural Gas Pipeline is a key project of the national 13th Five-Year Plan for Natural Gas Development and a dual key project of the 13th Five-Year Development Plan of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The project has a total length of 285 kilometers. The Inner Mongolia section and the Ningxia section of the project are undertaken by Hanas Inner Mongolia Company and Ningxia Company respectively. The project utilizes the natural gas resources of Sinopec Hangjin Banner Gas Field in Inner Mongolia to meet the gas demand along the project. Upon completion, it will become the second natural gas source for people’s livelihood in Ningxia, effectively alleviate the “gas shortage” in winter, and help the implementation of the national strategy of “revitalizing rural areas”, realize the integration of urban and rural development along the line, build a modern natural gas industry system and form interregional interconnection and interoperability with far-reaching impact.
